Gabrielle Domanic-Fernandez is a top female water polo athlete from Orange County, California, who quickly climbed the national team ladder, becoming one of the youngest left-handed field players to be a part of the USA National Team at 14 years old. As a standout high school player, Gabrielle helped her team win four consecutive Division I CIF championships. Throughout her four years in high school, Gabrielle received numerous national and local recognitions and honors. She was the #1 recruit coming out of high school in 2003, and received a full athletic scholarship at UCLA. It was there that Gabrielle played an integral role in helping UCLA win four consecutive NCAA championships. In her junior year, Gabrielle and her team made history winning the University’s 100th NCAA Championship — the first University to win 100 championships. In the 2006 NCAA championship game she was responsible for 2 goals and the winning assist that clinched her second NCAA championship. In 2007, she was responsible for 3 of the 5 goals that lead to the University’s 100th championship. In 2008, her fourth NCAA title, Gabrielle was responsible for 5 goals. At UCLA she made history with 137 career goals, 97 assists, and 92 steals. She also earned NCAA All-America honors. Her USA National team career consists of 2003 and 2004 Gold FINA World Champion, 2003 World Champion-Barcelona, 2003 USA Holiday Cup Champion and tournament MVP. In 2004, she was the first alternate for the USA Olympic Team at age 17. In 2009, Gabrielle played professional water polo in Australia for one year. In 2011, she was inducted into the Orange County Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Today, Gabrielle is a Nurse Practitioner and currently lives in Orange County with her family.
