Maxwell, John “Max” Homa — Golf

Max Homa is a 2009 graduate of Valencia High School, where, as a senior, he was the Foothill League MVP after leading his team to a spot in the section championship. He was a four-time First-Team All-Foothill League selection and honor roll student who was offered a scholarship to UC Berkeley. He became Cal’s active all-time career leader in both stroke-play events (39) and rounds (119), as well as total shots (8,574) — averaging 72.1 strokes per round. He led or co-led Cal in a stroke-play event 11 times — the most by any active player. He was the first player ever in Cal history to have a top-10 finish at the NCAA Championship (T9th) and NCAA Regional (T9th) in the same season in 2011-12. He played in the NCAA Championship three times, including a tie for ninth in 2012, the second-best finish ever by a Cal player at that event.
Max was a 2013 NCAA All-American and played on the 2013 USA Walker Cup Championship Team before turning professional. As of August 2021, Max is ranked #29 in the world with four PGA victories — including the 2021 LA Open after winning his first PGA title in 2019. He has won over $5 million dollars on the tour since turning pro.
