Ship, Arielle — Soccer
An All-CIF player as a senior at Westlake High School, Arielle Ship was League MVP, team-leading scorer and Most Valuable Player in Ventura County. She was a varsity starter as a 9th and 10th grader, but didn’t play her high school junior year in order to represent the USA internationally as a member of the USA U17 National Team. Arielle then became a standout midfielder and goal scorer at UC Berkeley beginning in 2013. The 5’7” forward had 14 goals, including 6 game winners as a junior when she was First-Team All Pac-12, Pac-12 Player of the Year (the first Cal Player of the Year in school history) and NSCAA All-American when she led her team into the NCAA Tournament. She was Pac-12 All-Conference and HM All-American as a senior. She finished 7th all-time in California scoring with 29 goals. She also competed internationally for the U23 USA National Team. Her Real SoCal club team won the Gothia Youth World Cup in Sweden. From 2009-2011 she was a member of the Cal South ODP state team and the 2010-11 Region IV Team.
Ship was drafted 26th (out of 40 total draft spots) in the 2017 NWSL Draft, and was the 2017 NWSL Player of the Week before tearing her ACL. Arielle was able to make a comeback from her injury and played for the Washington Spirit from 2017-2019, the Utah Royals in 2020, and the Kansas City Current in 2021. She is currently playing soccer for IFK Kalmar, in the top division in the Swedish football league.
