Cindy Bortz-Gould forever etched her name in the history books of professional skating when, at age 14, she became the first junior woman to successfully perform the difficult Triple Lutz.

Bortz-Gould’s landmark move was the highlight of a program that won the Junior Ladies gold medal at the 1986 National Figure Skating Championships in Uniondale, NY.

Standing all of 4-foot-8-inches at a competitive 80 pounds, the diminutive Tarzana native went on to carve a masterful career.

In 1987, Bortz-Gould capped a fine year as a U.S. National Team alternate with a gold medal at the World Junior Championships in Kitchener, Canada. She culminated her

1988 tour by winning the Novarat Trophy as the gold medalist in an international competition in Budapest, Hungary. In 1989, Bortz-Gould captured the Prize of Moscow as the gold medalist in international competitions in Russia. For seven consecutive years, at every level from Juvenile Ladies to Senior Ladies, Bortz-Gould took home a gold medal from the Southwest Pacific Regionals.
