Brener, Steve

Media - 1997

In 1970, after a year with the California Angels, Steve Brener joined the Los Angeles Dodgers publicity department. Five years later, he became the youngest Publicity Director in Major League Baseball history. He held that post for 14 years.

After leaving the Dodgers, Brener became Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Hollywood Park Race Track. One year later, teaming with former Dodgers’ associate Toby Zwikel, he launched his own marketing firm--Brener Zweikel & Associates, Inc. The successful company is arguably the leading sports publicity/marketing organization in Southern California, with clients including the NFL, NFL Properties, PGA, PGA Tour and LPGA, Tiger Woods, and The Skins Games.
Brener grew up in the San Fernando Valley and was a Baseball Writers of America scholarship winner.
